Meadowbrooke Happenings

It has been a while since I have written a blog to keep you all updated but it has been a crazy spring here on the farm. Tomorrow, May 22nd marks one year since our store was able to open after nine weeks of being closed for COVID. In that year, we have had to figure out a way of doing business that was totally outside what we had done for 25 years. We came up with some wonderful changes to our events, learned some very important lessons, and had a few things that we would rather just forget about.

Zoom Classes

One of the things we did start and have had a great response to are Zoom classes. They are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm and normally last about 1-1 ½ hours and we try to do two a month. We miss doing classes at the farm, but Zoom classes allow us to still teach you how to craft gourds in the comfort of your own home and the best part is we have got to meet people from all over the country. Our next class that is coming up is on June 8th where we will show you how to paint and put Ellie the Elephant together. There is only one kit left so if you are interested in getting in on this class, act quickly. On June 28, we will be holding an Americana Zoom class. This is a three-tier gourd stack that says USA. All gourds, paints, brushes, and accessories are included in the kit. For information and to register, please visit our website at https://mbgourds.com/farm-events/.

Live at the Farm

Meadowbrooke teamed up with Carlisle’s Molly Pitcher Brewing Company and Shaw Ranch Studios to bring music to the farm last summer. We are happy to announce we are bringing them back again this year starting next weekend, May 29th from 5 pm-9 pm.  Bring your friends and family out to the farm for some great food, craft beer, and awesome music by The Hawkeyes and special guests The Townies. In light of the new CDC guidelines, we have opened our Live on the Farm music series to general admission tickets! Enjoy B&L Dogz and Piper Bells who will be on-site serving delicious food, and Molly Pitcher Brewing Company will be serving brews. The Our retail store will be open for restrooms and shopping. What a great way to spend the holiday weekend by bringing your picnic to the farm. If you have never been here, we also have gourdeous sunsets! You won’t want to miss the fun. Gourds and Field Crops

Our gourds were started earlier this month in the greenhouse and are growing great. We have started to move them outside on these warm, pleasant days we’ve been having in PA. This will allow them to get acclimated to the sun, wind and will harden them a bit before getting planted in the fields later in June. We also have planted our soybeans and corn for the year and our winter wheat is green and lush reaching for the sun. For those of you that are wondering, we will be planting our sunflowers again this but remember, we only plant them in July so they will only start to bloom in September. Believe it or not, I am already getting questions as to when they will be blooming this year.

Coastal Collection

We are so excited to introduce you to our new Coastal Collection. This has been in the works for a while but designing really took off about 8 weeks ago. We did a sneak peek on Facebook and Instagram to get feedback and were totally blown away by all the responses.  Those of you that left comments and feedback, you were heard for that we want to say a huge THANK YOU! There are currently six different designs in warm, sponged beachy colors. Whether you own a beach house or just love the ocean, this collection is for you. The first test run of 20 is now available in our retail store on the farm and they will hit our website for online ordering a little later in June. We will let you know as soon as they ready for new forever homes.

Lots of things going on and just a reminder that you can click here to view all our events that are scheduled so far at the farm this year   https://mbgourds.com/event/2021-save-the-dates/

Until next month,

Dori
