Warehime's Pumpkin Patch 2019
We just got finished with our Fall Create you Owns but that doesn’t mean Fall is over. It is actually just beginning. Right down the road from us is Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch and they are still in full swing selling pumpkins, corn stalks and helping people get lost (at least for a little bit) in their amazing corn maze shaped like a gourd, pumpkin and sunflowers. Last weekend, my kids and their friends got the chance to go spend time at Warehime’s and they haven’t stopped talking about it since.
They started their Saturday out by first stopping in to say “hi” to Todd and me who were working at the Create Your Own, grabbed something to eat from the food truck and then made their way down the road about ½ mile to Warehime’s. Every year, our family has a pumpkin carving contest, so it was their job to get us all pumpkins for the carving that evening. My son and his girlfriend haven’t been around for the last 4 years because they were away at college so it was nice to have everyone home again.
They were amazed at how many pumpkins were still available and all the different colors you can now get pumpkins in. Lauren and Erin (daughter and son’s girlfriend) picked out the neatest ones that were white with orange stripes. Zack and Jon (son and daughter’s boyfriend) picked out traditional orange ones for themselves, Todd and me.
After, the pumpkin gathering was completed. They began their trip through the corn maze. Unbeknownst to me, there is a game you can play while wandering your way through the maze. What a cool idea! As you meander through the maze, there are signs that have simple questions on them and the answers are used in a crossword that they give you before entering. The questions are easy enough for kids but hard enough to find for the adults. There are 10 in all. They also have you covered if you do become a little lost, signs with a phone number on them to call if such an occasion should arise. They said the hardest part was having to back track because you get to a dead end and try to remember which way you came from and where you already were. It took them about 50 minutes to complete the maze and crossword and they did it without having to call the “help, I’m lost” number.
Lastly, they went to the sunflower fields by the pumpkin patch and brought home a beautiful bouquet of multi-colored sunflowers to set on the table. If you are looking for a great family fun-filled Fall activity to do on the weekends, I highly recommend Warehime’s for both the young and the young at heart. Warehime’s pumpkin patch is open Thursday and Friday evenings 4-7, Saturdays 10-6 and Sundays 12-5. They will close for the season after October 27th, 2019.
